Doddington Hall joins with council and charities to give families a Summer of Imagination
Children and adults from local community groups and charities have experienced stunning days out at Doddington Hall & Gardens.
Working in partnership with the City of Lincoln Council and Marshalls of Sutton on Trent, the historic house and gardens near Lincoln welcomed the families for a special tour of the gardens and to enjoy hands-on activities during the attraction’s Summer of Imagination.
During their visit, the children and adults joined Doddington’s head gardener Jordan Wallhead in making seed bombs, planting lettuces and playing environmentally-focused games. Others discovered more about the countryside and wildlife with Isobel Wright, the head of the Wilder Doddington project.
The visitors were treated to a nutritious lunch and were also able to explore the gardens and Summer of Imagination trail free of charge.
Doddington Hall & Gardens is a historic house and gardens that’s been transformed into an immersive outdoor experience for its Summer of Imagination event which runs until 5th September. A magical Quest Trail leads visitors through the historic gardens while spectacular performances, art installations, activities and workshops delight all ages.

“Our little boy had such a brilliant day with highlights including making seed balls, finding a ‘stripey beetroot’, feeding the cows and hunting for dung beetles!”

“We have just returned from a wonderful day with you. We were lucky to have got tickets to the Community Day event and we just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of the staff involved.”
Head Gardener, Jordan Wallhead who accompanied some of the visitors said:
“We had an amazing couple of days where we could show how vegetables are grown within the Kitchen Garden. We were also able to show our beehives and focus on how important they are for producing honey but also why they are important for humans by pollinating our flowers and vegetables.
“Having these days to help teach and address the issues with growing vegetables and flowers and the sad decline of bees is incredibly important”
Isobel Wright, head of Wilder Doddington said:
“It was great to share the start of our Wilder Doddington story where we are increasing biodiversity on the farm. We had some amazing discussions ranging from why dung beetles are brilliant to debates about where our food comes from. These conversations are so important as we learn how to play our part to help address the climate and biodiversity challenges. I am looking forward to many more opportunities to share our journey”
Doddington Hall & Gardens’ Summer of Imagination runs until 5th September 2021 and it is open seven days a week from 10am-4pm.
Adult tickets are available for £7.50 and tickets for children aged 4 to 16 are £3.50. Children under 3 can enter for free. Family tickets are available for £19 and Doddington Season Ticket holders can enter for free.
Tickets can be purchased from www.doddingtonhall.com or upon arrival, although numbers are limited to support social distancing so advance booking is recommended.
