Over 10 million meals ordered using Eat Out to Help Out Scheme so far

More than 10 million meals were purchased under the government’s scheme in the first week.

This scheme is designed to help support the hospitality industry across the UK by covering 50% of the cost of a meal to a maximum of £10 per person.

Restaurants claimed for 10,540,394 individual meals in the first week of the Eat Out to Help Out scheme. More than 83,000 restaurants have signed up so far across the UK with businesses welcoming the intervention but warning that the hospitality industry remains in crisis.

Visits to high streets after 6pm last Monday rose 19% on the week before while lunchtime trips were up 10%.
