Business rates relief boosted with new £1.5 billion pot

A new Business Rates relief fund of £1.5 billion has been announced to support businesses who have been unable to benefit from the existing business relief packages. This pot will be allocated to local authorities who will make the awards.

Step 2 of Roadmap confirmed: Non-essential businesses reopening on 12th April

From Monday 12th April 2021, many businesses will be able to reopen including non-essential retail; personal care premises such as hairdressers and nail salons; and public buildings, including libraries and community centres.

New measures to support a safe and successful reopening of high street and seaside resorts including:

– £56 million Welcome Back Fund to help boost the area’s look and feel, and increase safety measures

– Pubs, restaurants and listed buildings given more flexibility to use their land, including erecting marquees in pub gardens for the whole summer
